The lighting in that one is really awesome! it fills the image with atmosphere, it makes me feel all happy and special, like I was also staying up late with my computer for company. I'm really glad my tutorial helped you ^_^
Very simple, and very useful I'm taking concept art, and we're doing lighting right now. Many of the things my professor and other artist say makes sense but when it's time to execute it just baffles me and I can't understand what they mean. This was very to the point to a certain degree and explains very basics. Thank you for this!
smudging, well it is a technique, not a concept. the purpose of the tutorial was the concept. i think if you are skilled at smudging, then i think you could get a really good effect using that. i would be interested to see what you could do with it.
unless you mean something else and i have misunderstood?
--- do you perhaps mean adding a glow onto it? i think adding a glow on the oven would work well, but that's more of a camera effect rather than a lighting model.
light is so important in any artwork... i love the tutorial and will be referring to it quite often... however... i did not get how you used the mask tool on the layer so it automatically comes in black
did I do that? I'm not sure. if I did, it must have been by accident!
well, if you have a selection and then you make a mask, the selection is white and the outside is black. so it essentially turns the selection into a mask. but if i want it to be black to start off with, i think i normally have to use the paintbucket.
